Founder & CEO
Zulbayar Badral established MarketIntel in 2017 with the sole purpose of creating a one-stop market intelligence & advisory platform that provides top-notch strategic insights and critical analysis on investment and business climate changing events happening in Mongolia.
With his finance and business development experiences in the UK, Zulbayar was appointed to senior management roles in management consulting, construction, and investment banking firms in Mongolia.
He advised and worked with international financial institutions including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and other development finance institutions on private and public sector projects.
Mr. Zulbayar graduated with MA Financial Economics from the Kingston University London and MSc Finance from the University of Westminster. He is a recipient of Chevening Scholarships from the UK Government.
Lex Smith
Senior Consultant
Lex Smith is the President and Director at Merger Mines Corporation. Previously, Mr. Smith was the President and Director of Shoshone Silver/Gold Mining Company from 2003 to 2012, and President and Director of Shoshone Silver Mining Company Mexico S.A. de C.V. from 2008 to 2010. Mr. Smith also served as the President and Director of the Silver Valley Mining Association from its inception in 2003 until 2009 and also served as President and Director of Natural Resources Education Outreach (NREO), an Idaho non-profit corporation. Mr. Smith was a founder of both organizations.
Additionally, in 2013, Mr. Smith was employed as a foreign legal consultant and mining law consultant for the LEHMAN, LEE & XU Law Firm in Beijing, China. Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army Security Agency and the Iowa Air National Guard.
Colin Brown
Senior Consultant
Mr. Brown is an experienced Chartered Accountant with over 40 years in the auditing, accounting financial and regulatory sectors. Founded the Financial Reporting Council, London, UK, Mr. Brown has spent most of his career working in the Big Four assurance and advisory environment. In addition to the successful implementation the audit inspection regulatory process of the UK regulator, he has proven track record of working with and advising large multi-national organisations in a number of different countries.
Based in Brisbane, Australia, Mr. Brown has been working as a de facto CFO of a listed oil and gas company. He is an ESG certified consultant by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and has significant experience in the energy and resource sector.
Batkhongor Gankhuu
Senior Consultant
As an experienced corporate banker, Mr. Batkhongor has helped many high street shops, restaurants, and retailers to expand their business operations for more than 15 years. Graduated from the School of Economics at the National University of Mongolia, one of the prestigious business schools in Mongolia, Mr. Batkhongor joined Golomt Bank of Mongolia, one of Mongolia’s largest commercial banks, as an internal auditor and moved up to become the head of the department.
Along the way, he was involved in major corporate decisions at the bank regarding the risk management and internal control functions before he was appointed to lead one of the largest bank branch offices of Golomt Bank.
Currently, Mr. Batkhongor runs his own non-banking financial institution providing short-term financing to SME businesses as well as supports them through business development services.
